Donors Make a Difference

For the thousands of you who became first-time donors in 2019, and for the many who have supported us since the beginning – thank you. As you read through this year’s annual report, please know that these donor-funded initiatives would not be possible without your generosity and steadfast commitment to Toronto Public Library.

Why We Fundraise for TPL

The Toronto Public Library Foundation is making it possible for anyone to invest in the health and vitality of our world-class city. Donations to TPLF help support the exemplary collections, ground-breaking programs and services as well as the innovative spaces at the world’s busiest public library system.

TPL is helping to build a Toronto that is:

More Resilient & Connected

When you transform libraries, you transform neighbourhoods.

More Involved & More Informed

Access to lifelong learning opportunities puts people on the path to success.

More Prepared to Thrive in the Digital World

Digital access and digital inclusion is the great equalizer.

More Creative, Accepting & Civically Engaged

Participating in creative and cultural opportunities builds a vibrant, healthy city.

Metrics and Donor Feedback

Toronto Public Library is the busiest library system in the world. Learn about the amazing accomplishments of your Library and what patrons had to say.

A Strong Partnership with TD Bank Group

As one of Toronto Public Library’s largest and longest-standing donors, the Foundation is grateful to TD Bank Group for generously supporting TPL programs, collections and community spaces since 1996.

TD Summer Reading Club

TD Summer Reading Club is a great way for kids to keep reading all summer long. More than 300,000 kids participated last year and enjoyed the fun of reading, anywhere, anytime over the summer thanks to TD Bank Group’s incredible support.
As Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for children of all ages, all interests, and all abilities, this free Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories, and inspires kids to build a lifelong love of reading. Children who don’t read over the summer risk losing up to three months of hard earned reading progress. Even short bursts of reading can increase a child’s confidence, preparing them to go back to school.
